Christina Gomez, MD, was born in Miami, Florida, to Cuban parents. She knew from the age of 5 that she wanted to be a physician.

Christy studied medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and served as Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine, Smilow Cancer Center. She is a gastrointestinal medical oncologist at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.

I write this book for patients and caregivers, friends and partners, fellow physicians. For all of us who know or will know this moment of intimate encounter. Where questions and answers touch, where silence gives birth to words, where life and death come face to face.

A unique ability to listen and to really hear has emerged from this patient-physician partnership. Christy shares the fruits of what she has heard in her first book, Stopped in My Tracks.

Christy lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her young son, Danny.
